Just spent 4 of the last 5 days fishing Lake Musconetcong...
First on Saturday the 14th was my first day out for the season. Water temps. around 43 with light winds....hazy skies, with filtered sun. High temps. were only around 50.
The whole time I was out I never even saw a fish, and that was from 11 to around 4 pm......
Sunday was again hazy sun and only 52. With the water only around 44, the wind forced me to leave sweaters and coat on for most of the day. I managed to catch 1 bass around 1 lb and 6 nice pickeral, At least 5 other boats on the lake with the same results...
Monday I gave it another try and got only 2 bass each around 14" and 1 pickeral. It was another cool day out there with the water still only around 45...
Tuesday I stopped at Cranberry Lake and zeroed out...only saw 1 bass...had one very large perch come up from 13', look at the lure and back down. and one pickeral did the same...
Wednesday I hit Musconetcong again. Nice day out there at 65...only problem was very windy and water only 46, so unless you were near sheltered coves, you could not appreciate the nice warm day...had to leave sweatshirts on the whole time..
I picked up 3 small bass all no larger than 15". At least I got something. We need about 10 degrees increase in water temp to really get things going...
Looks like some time next week till we see some warmer weather again....
